Theo Plothe
Biography
Theo Plothe (Ph.D. in Communications, American University; M.A., Ball State University) joined the department of journalism and mass communications at Savannah State University in fall 2018. His previous academic training in linguistics and TESOL prepared him to teach English as a Second Language courses throughout Asia and the U.S. He has published in the Journal of Popular Culture, GAME, and Kinephanos, and the edited collections Video Game Policy: Production, Distribution, and Consumption, Digital Football Cultures, and Critical Definitions of Games. He is currently co-editing a special essay collection entitled Netflix at the Nexus, forthcoming from Peter Lang. His research focuses on the materiality of digital media, especially social media, digital gaming, and remix culture.
