Biography

Jason Miccolo Johnson (B.A. in News Editorials, Howard University) has 43 years of professional photography experience including 39 years as an award winning independent photojournalist with photos included in 36 books, over 66 magazines, numerous international and national exhibitions, and a feature film. Fifty of his photos are in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. He has lectured at the Library of Congress, American University and Union Theological Seminary. He previously worked at USA Today, and ABC Network News (Washington, D.C.). Johnson is the author of the best-selling book Soul Sanctuary: Images of the African American Worship Experience and the founder of two weekly newspapers.
