Meal Plans

Resident Meal Plans

All undergraduate resident students under the age of 25 at SSU are required to have a meal plan during Fall and Spring semesters. Meal plans for 2022-2023 are as follows:

Residential Meal Plan Prices
20 Meals per Week with $100 Flex Dollars $2150.00
15 Meals per Week with $50 Flex Dollars $1800.00
10 Meals per Week with $25 Flex Dollars $1474.00


Resident students are not required to have a meal plan in the summer but may purchase a commuter meal plan. 

Do You Want to Change Your Resident Plan?

If you do not want the plan that is currently assigned to you, you may change your plan no later than 3 p.m. on Friday of the first full week of classes. Please fill out the Residential Meal Change Request Form and submit the form via email to auxserv@savannahstate.edu.

If you are changing to a plan of the same type (traditional to traditional or dining dollars to dining dollars), you may do this at any time during the semester. The costs will be prorated by date. However, if going to a larger plan, the difference in cost between the two plans can only be charged to your student account through the last day of the "book voucher period," after which you must first pay the difference at the Bursar's Office. Financial aid can only be applied towards meal plans until it disburses onto your student account. After that date, you must prepay for service. 

Meal plan swipes do not carry over to the next semester, but unused dining dollars are refunded to your student account.

Students with off-campus employment or a medical condition who cannot be accommodated by Dining Services may apply for a meal plan reduction at the Auxiliary Services Office. For meal plan reduction, review and sign the Off-Campus Employment & Medical Meal Plan Reduction Policy. If the request is based on a medical disability, you must submit a   Physician Statement for Meal Plan Reduction/Exemption form.  No reduction is provided for being a vegetarian or vegan since we offer a wide range of choices in our dining venues.

Commuter Meal Plans

Commuter meal plans are available for students who do not live on campus but wish to take advantage of the plan savings and have the meal plan charged to their student account during the bookstore voucher period.  These plans may also be purchased by residential graduate students and students 25 and older during Spring and Fall semesters, and by all resident students in the summer.

Faculty and Staff Meal Plans

Special meal plans have been created for faculty and staff. Faculty and staff meal plans for 2021-2022 are as follows:

Faculty/Staff Meal Plan Prices
10 Meals per Semester $100.00


These prices represent a saving over the casual rate that is paid at the door. Instructions for applying are on the online Faculty/Staff Meal Plan Application form. All faculty/staff meal plans may be purchased with cash, check, credit card, or by payroll deduction. Meal plans are good from August 1 through July 31 when food service is available and they are non-refundable. If meal plans are paid for by payroll deduction, any remaining payments will be deducted from the last check if an employee leaves. Employees who are taking classes at the University are considered employees for this purpose.
