Scholarly Activities

The SSU STEAM TEAM

STEM 360 and the STEM SUCCESS Center receive many requests to do community outreach from organizations and schools in our surrounding area. This team assists with community and campus outreach that deals with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. This includes, STEM Night at Heard Elementary, Girl's Engineer It Day, SECME and more. Participating as a volunteer qualifies students for Summer Enrichment Camp counselor and assistant positions with the STEM Success Center.

Collegiate and Professional Robotics

VEX U is the collegiate level of the VEX Robotics Competition. Every year VEX releases a new challenge game in which teams compete for a chance to climb to the national or world championship. There are qualifying tournaments, seminars, workshops, and many more opportunities for growth available by participating in VEX. This is also a great opportunity to participate in  community outreach with local high school teams competing in the SSU Regional Competition in April.

Battlebots is a long running robotics competition open to professionals as well as other robotics enthusiasts. Participation as a competitor in Battlebots competition yields major exposure to applying knowledge in fields such as engineering, electronics, CAD an other related areas. The goal is to garner interest and prepare a team to apply for the 2020 Season.
