MISSION STATEMENT:

The mission of Black Men With A Mission is to ensure the success of African-Americans especially males through economic and political empowerment by the use and development of our communities, resources, and collected skills (such as organizational and leadership) and by an understanding and reawakening of our history, culture, and values.

 

VISION:

BMWM will create and diffuse a new consciousness in the African-American. We will evolve into a premier power and provider of the 21st century with communication between African- rooted people throughout the World.

What is Black Men With A Mission?

BMWM is a non-profit organization based in Savannah, GA, on the campus of Savannah State University that addresses the development, needs and challenges of African-Americans, especially males, in the areas of leadership training, economic development, social development, and education.

African-American males are the most disenfranchised group in the United States.

Here are just a few of the dreadful statistics: African-American men have the lowest life expectancy and highest mortality rate of all sex and ethnic groups.

The incidence of cirrhosis, hypertension, heart disease among African-American males is higher than any other comparable group.

Homicide is the leading cause of death for African-American men ages 15-24.

African-American males represent over 40% of the Prison population

 

What are BMWM programs and strategy?

Although BMWM targets young adults, BMWM recognizes the need for adult mentoring, role models, and therefore, wishes to maintains a cadre of African-American adults from a variety of disciplines and Professions, to serve as teachers and mentors to our teenagers.

BMWM plans to conduct a variety of other programs. A sample of a few are voting registration programs, resume enhancement programs, and strategic planning programs in the areas of finance and time.

Why haven’t I heard of BMWM?

BMWM is a new organization and is just beginning to take off. As more positive brothers get involved you will hear more about BMWM.

 

Do I have Time to Participate and Contribute to BMWM?

Yes. BMWM requires a minimum portion of your time. The focus is on support. As long as you are able to support some of the functions and events with your presence and by inviting others you are contributing enough.

How much can I contribute?

¥ . That is up to the individual. BMWM welcomes anyone to contribute as much as possible because the mission will not be accomplished in a day. There are numerous positions to be filled and committees to be created.
