Dr. Nat Hardy has been active in the higher education community for more than twenty years. Before becoming the Director of Graduate Studies, Dr. Hardy served as the Director of Online Education and the Interim Co-Chair of SSU’s Department of Liberal Arts. In addition to his administrative duties, Dr. Hardy is an Associate Professor of English, Humanities, and Creative Writing in the Department of English, Languages & Culture, and an online English instructor for the University System of Georgia’s eCore. During the 2012-2013 academic year, Dr. Hardy was selected as a Georgia Governor’s Teaching Fellow and was in May, 2015 was elected President of the Georgia Council of Graduate Schools. Prior to teaching at Savannah State University, Dr. Hardy held academic positions in the United States and Canada including: Rogers State University, Oklahoma State University, Louisiana State University, the University of Alberta, and McMaster University. Dr. Hardy holds a Ph.D. (Early Modern Literature of Illness and Disease) from the University of Alberta, a M.Ed. (Higher Education Administration) from Georgia Southern University, an M.F.A. (Creative Writing) from Louisiana State University, and an M.A. (Restoration Utopian Literature) from McMaster University and a B.A. (English and Philosophy) from the University of Alberta. As a life-long learner and a global citizen, Dr. Hardy has lived in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and has studied and researched as a graduate student in England and the Czech Republic. Dr. Hardy was born and raised in northern Alberta, Canada, but now calls Savannah home.

Higher Education Administration, Online Education, Composition and Creative Writing Pedagogy, Poetry, Curriculum Development, Literature of Illness and Disease, Medical Humanities, Early Modern Anatomy, Utopian/Dystopian Literature and Film, and Digital Humanities.
