I was born in Coney Island, New York. I was reared in small town rural-farm southern hamlet in Pollocksville, North Carolina. I matriculated North Carolina College, Now North Carolina Central University in 1969. I attended the University of California at Berkeley, California for both the M.A. and Ph.D. Degrees in Urban Geography. I am married to the Rev. Beverly G. Jordan of Portsmouth, Virginia. We have one son who is a junior at SSU. I have held positions as Assistant and Associate Professor at Prairie View A & M , Tennessee State, Old Dominion and Norfolk State Universities respectively. I became an Assistant Professor of Public Administration at Savannah State University in September, 1969. I became the Director of the Master of Public Administration program in 1991. I was promoted to Professor of Public Administration in 1992. In 2000, I became Professor of Social & Behavioral Sciences where I have remained until the present time. I have also held positions with the U. S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of the Census; the U.S. Department of Education, both as statistician. I was also employed at the U.S. Army Cprp of Engineers In Savannah, Georgia for three summers while teaching at SSU. My hobbies are reading and coaching little league baseball and basketball.
