Biography

Professor Baker received her B.S. in Chemistry from Savannah State College and M.S. in Organic Chemistry from Atlanta University. Prior to joining Savannah State University in 2001 Prof. Baker served in the Peace Corps teaching chemistry, health science and biology in Nigeria and Tanzania. Following the Peace Corps tour she also taught science and math in Honkaa, Hawaii. Graduate work led to positions as a chemist at Los Alamos Scientific Lab in weapon research, polymer research at Union Carbide, Tarrytown, NY and Lederle Laboratories-Wyeth Ayerst Research, Pearl River, NY in the area of cardiovascular and renal diseases..
