Board of Visitors Scholarship
The Board of Visitors (BOV) Scholarship supports Savannah State University (SSU) students who are both academically talented and motivated, and demonstrate financial need, who are primarily from the Savannah-Chatham region.
Meet the SSU Board of Visitors Scholars
The scholarship, which provides up to $10,000 per year, is renewable if the recipient maintains a 3.0 GPA or higher while enrolled at SSU. BOV scholarship recipients are selected by a committee appointed by the SSU president. Prospective SSU applicants will beinvited to complete an application for consideration.
Recipients receive:
- Up to $10,000 per year for tuition, room and board; laptop computer (in freshman year); books and a monthly living stipend after other aid (Pell grant, HOPE scholarship, etc.) is applied.
- Support in adjusting to college and academic life through mentors
- Opportunities to participate in service learning and a variety of student programs at SSU
In order to qualify for the scholarship, students must:
- Demonstrate significant financial need and plan to graduate within four (4) years
- Complete FAFSA and apply for HOPE scholarship annually
- Enrol full-time at SSU and live on campus
- Have Georgia residency
- Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher
