Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Organizations and Leadership

The Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Organizations and Leadership is a 12-credit hour program that is designed for those working in the nonprofit sector or desiring to begin a career by taking the next step. Essential knowledge, skills, and abilities are developed that prepare graduates for the unique opportunities and challenges facing nonprofit organizations.

This certificate is designed for those who have earned a bachelor's degree in their field, but wish to take rigorous master's level courses related to the management of nonprofit organizations.

Admission Requirements

Completed admission applications are evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with a required minimum grade point average of 2.5
  • Statement of career goals and objectives
  • Relevant experience considered

Core Curriculum

Required Core Courses:
PADM 6880 Introduction to Nonprofit Organizations and Leadership
PADM 6881 Nonprofit Management, Planning, and Governance

Electives (Choose 2):
PADM 6882 Financial Management in Nonprofit Organizations
PADM 6883 Marketing and Fundraising for Nonprofit Organizations
PADM 6884 Human Resources and Volunteer Management for Nonprofit Organizations
PADM 6885 Writing Grants: Foundations, NPOs and Government Contracts

One elective may be satisfied by the internship course, provided the placement is at an approved nonprofit organization.

To apply for this program, please submit a completed graduate application, statement of purpose, résumé or curriculum vitae, and one transcript from each college attended, to the Office of Graduate Studies..
