Center for Academic Success – Front Desk Assistant

Duties:

*Answer all incoming calls to the Tutorial Center

*Assist in making tutoring appointments for the peer tutors

*Assist the coordinator in small tasks that relate to the day-to-day operations of the center

*Provide good customer service to those visiting the Tutorial Center

Financial Aid – Phone Center Assistant

Duties:

The student will be responsible for answering inquiries and providing information for the general public. Duties will include assisting the office in a variety of customer service related tasks; such as, answering phones to address general questions, connecting caller to appropriate campus offices, greeting and assisting visitors from diverse backgrounds (i.e. age, socio-economic status, gender, etc.) with completion of FAFSA and Verification Portal, work Open House and New Student Orientation events scheduled on various weekends, and other duties assigned.

Requirements:

Student must be trustworthy, dependable, professional, and customer service oriented. Student must have good communication skills to include pleasant phone etiquette, neat appearance, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Student must keep all financial aid matters confidential due to the sensitive nature of content handled. Student must possess the ability to work without constant supervision.

Duties:

The student will be responsible for performing routine clerical and computer tasks. Student must possess a willingness to do a variety of duties in a cheerful manner; such as, alphabetical filing work, data entry, document scanning and indexing, handling confidential data and materials, and assisting visitors from diverse backgrounds (i.e. age, socio-economic status, gender, etc.) with completion of FAFSA and Verification Portal, work Open House and New Student Orientation events scheduled on various weekends, and other duties assigned.

Requirements:

Student must be trustworthy, dependable, professional, have good communication and organizational skills. Confidentiality is necessary due to the sensitive nature of data handled. Student must be organized, have strong computer skills, pay attention to detail, posses ability to work without constant supervision and filing experience (i.e. knowledge of the alphabet).

Health Services – Office Assistant

Duties:

Answer two-line phone system and direct calls as required

Maintain accurate filing and storage systems in the office

Greet clients and vendors upon arrival and direct them to appropriate offices or personnel

Maintain and organize office and medical supply inventory

Retrieve documents and files when requested

To assist staff at all events of the health center, some on weekends and late evenings.

Read and route incoming mail and process outgoing mail

Light typing of correspondences

Create and update spreadsheets

Assist administrative staff and medical team as requested.

International Education - Work Study Intl Ed Assistant

Duties:

An assignment in the International Education Center will include some general office responsibilities where you will gain experience working on computers, speaking with international students on the phone and in person.  Student workers will be responsible for assisting with activities associated with the International Education Center which will include International Student programming, English Language Institute, and Study Abroad recruiting events.  Students will help with event preparation, set up and take down.  They may assist in designing promotional flyers and email notices.  Student workers may assist our ESOL instructors in the classroom or with making copies of documents and materials needed for classroom instruction.

 

Student workers may assist new International Students by conducting tours, helping students locate classrooms, and with helping new students shop for housing and school supplies.

Requirements:

Must be interested in working with people from diverse backgrounds in an environment that is always changing.

Duties:

Assist students, faculty and staff members with the following:

IT Service Desk – Computer Lab Assistant

Duties:

Oversees all technical issues within assigned general computer labs which includes:

-Replenishing printer paper and toner

Marine & Environmental Science – Benthic Lab Student Tech

Duties:

Duties include but are not limited to:

Care and maintenance of the research labs in the Marine Science Research building (off campus).  The applicant will clean and prep assigned lab equipment for use in research.   The applicant may be responsible for the cleanliness and organization of the benthic lab.  The applicant may be assigned field work duties to assist interns in research conducted by the Benthic Lab.  Field work includes but is not limited to oyster reef monitoring, microplastics studies and fisheries management.  Other duties will be assigned as needed. 

Professional competencies gained from this position:

Student will learn lab safe procedures applicable to professional lab environments. Student will learn the UltraClean method for washing and caring for laboratory glass ware.  Student will learn to safely and appropriately set up a HCL bath glassware maintenance.

Hours for position: 10 to 19 hrs per week depending on FWS award

Requirements:

Major in Marine, Environmental or Biological sciences preferred.

Physical Plant – Event Setup Tech

Duties:

Event Setup Techs are responsible for the set up of event rooms to guests expectations. This position will set up, breakdown, and clean all space associated with banquets, conventions and student events.

 

Responsibilities include: Install resources for scheduled events based on diagrams and maps provided, stocking, and maintaining event rooms, setup and breakdown of event rooms, and maintain inventory cleanliness throughout the season.

Requirements:

What we are looking for in a candidate: Team player, Organized, Self-starter, and Effective communicator. Must be able to lift minimum of 20 lbs

Radio Station – WHCJ Work Study

Duties:

Assist Station Director and Assistant Director as needed:

·   Alphabetize CDs in studio

·   Answer telephones

·   File and type letters

·   Assist with training other students on equipment

·   Engineer board for other programs

·   During football season weekend work may be required to broadcast football games

·   Broadcast Tiger Eye News

·   Create PSAs and maintain PSA announcement log on a daily basis

·   Stock supply closet

Requirements:

Flexible Schedule, learn quickly and able to multi-task.

Must be responsible and on time for shift.

Open to all majors, but willing to learn about Radio broadcast Pay attention to detail.

Great customer service skills: Must get along well with others May be required to work past 5 pm. Excellent communication skills: speaking, reading and writing.

Recreation and Wellness - Facility Attendant

Duties:

Several students will be employed to fill supervisory/Facilities attendant positions. Assist in the day-to-day facility and program operation. As a student employee working with the office of University Recreation and Wellness, it is our expectation that you exemplify stewardship, service, and leadership. In addition, student employees are responsible for the following, among other things:

 a) Report to work on time at all times and maintain assigned duties and responsibilities at all time.

b) If you are going to be late, notify your supervisor at least an hour (1) prior to your scheduled work time.

c) If you won’t be able to come to work notify your supervisor a day ahead of time

d) Assist in the opening, operation, and closing of URW facilities.

e) Assist in the day-to-day implementation and supervision of scheduled activities and programs.

f) Assist in the monitoring and supervision of facility users’ activities while on duty.

g) Assist in cleaning facility building, equipment’s, and other materials as assigned. 

h) Ensure that facility users adhere to the rules and regulations of the facility at all times.

i) Report any inappropriate activity to the supervisor on duty.

j) It is your responsibility (Not your supervisor) to input and keep up with your time in adp.

k) All Student employees are expected to dress properly (no halter top, revealing shorts or skirts, sagging pants, and extremely low riders.

l) Absolutely no electronic materials, food, beverages, or friends hanging around while on duty.

m) Student employees are expected to conduct themselves in a proper and respectful manner at all times.

n) Student employees assigned to work at the front desk of the facility is responsible for collecting and securing all Identification Cards handed to him/her by users. Any damage, misplacement or loss of user’s (ID) as a result of negligence by the individual on duty, will result in disciplinary action.

o) No Student employee is allowed to leave his/her post of assignment without informing/alerting the supervisor on duty.

p) Attend all mandatory meetings, trainings, and functions as required by the Office of URW 

Please note that a supervisor can and may assign you duties other than the ones listed above. These duties may include (but are not limited) to:  picking up documents, helping in  setting  the gym up for games, preparing documents, etc. Failure to comply with any of the above stated expectations could result in disciplinary action or termination.

Registrar - Student Assistant

Duties:

Provides customer service, runs campus errands, assists administrative staff, facilities monitoring, performs general administrative tasks, answers multi line phone system in an office with high call volume. Asks questions of the caller to determine which staff member can best assist them or determine what service they need.  Files documents and paperwork. Scan documents into Banner using Application Extender. 

Greet students, parents, and faculty that visit.  Opens mail and distribute to appropriate staff member.  Maintains confidentiality. Assists with copying, imaging, collating, faxing, and sorting of materials at various times during the year; runs errands on campus; assists with graduation. Students must adhere to the established University System of Georgia policy.

Student Development – Front Desk/Customer Svc. Assistant

Duties:

This is a part-time federal work-study funded position that provides limited assistance to the Department of Student Development under the Division of Student Affairs. This position is responsible for a variety of administrative and clerical duties. These include answering the telephone, screening calls, routing calls, greeting and assisting students, faculty, personnel, visitors, opening/scanning and logging all incoming correspondence.

Duties:

The duty of the College Success Assistant (CSA)

*Monitor the front desk and lab activities at all times.

*Ensure that all students are signing in and out as they enter and leave the lab.

*Call students to confirm appointments for tutoring.

*File students records

Requirements:

University Career Services – Career Ambassador

Duties:

Performs a variety of clerical and related duties for the staff of the Office of Career Services.

·   Answer the phone in a professional manner and assist the caller

·   Make copies, filing

·   Assist students, faculty, staff, and community at the front desk

·   Assist office staff with administrative tasks and special projects

·   Have students sign in for volunteer service for a variety of activities

·   Assist staff with Orientation

University Housing Tiger Court – Office Assistant

Duties:

The Office Assistant position consists of working the front desk of the Tiger Court office. General work responsibilities include managing the work study positions, creating their work schedule, answering the phones and other administrative duties. To be considered for this positions, students must be enrolled full-time, be in good standing with the university, and be eligible for work study. The Office Assistant is under the immediate direction of the Resident Director of Tiger Court who reports to the Director of University Housing and Residence Life.

Requirements:

·   The OA has to be in good standing academically, financially and judicially to obtain the position. He/she must also be enrolled as a full-time student the entire semester (12 credits fall and spring & 9 credits in the summer) to be considered in good academic standing and keep their position with the Department of University Housing and Residence Life.

·   The OA must be able to work effectively with the University students in a residence hall environment.

·   The OA must demonstrate a sense of job responsibility and maturity.

·   The OA must be a good role model and follow university and residence halls policies.
