The ADDIE Model

The ADDIE Model is the most common model used for creating instructional materials.The ADDIE Process categorizes the instructional design process into five phases:

Analyze

• Identify the learning problem
• Analyze learner characteristics and the nature of the task
• Determine the purpose of the task
• Identify all instructional goals and objectives
• Consider the learning environment, delivery options and the timeline for the project
• Formative evaluation

Design

• Specify learning objectives
• Design storyboards and prototypes
• Determine the graphic design, user-interface and content
• Formative evaluation

Develop

• Produce content and learning materials based on the Design phase
• Formative evaluation

Implement

• Deliver or distribute the instructional materials
• Formative evaluation

Evaluate

• Determine the level of success by evaluating the needs for each individual objective
• Summative Evaluation
