Faculty/Staff COVID-19 Protocol Updated 08/25/2022

The following protocols will help streamline the necessary notifications and contact tracing if you have tested positive for COVID-19 OR have been in close contact (exposure) with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. If you have any questions, email ssucovid-19@savannahstate.edu

 

Tested Positive Protocols:

  1. Notify your Supervisor and CARES Team via email ssucovid-19@savannahstate.edu
  2. Self-isolate for 5 full days (day 0 is the first day of symptoms or the date of the positive test).
  3. Contact Human Resources, hr@savananahstate.edu, to submit documentation of a positive COVID-19 test and ask about other benefits that you may have.
  4. Notify close contacts of your illness and ask them to participate in contact tracing.
  5. You can exit isolation after 5 full days and a negative COVID-19 test. The CARES Team will contact you when it is time for you to schedule your COVID-19 test to exit isolation. You are required to test negative for COVID-19 before resuming normal campus activities. You must wear a well-fitting mask in public for 5 additional days (day 6 – day 10) after the negative test.
  6. The CARES Team will contact you when it is time for you to schedule your COVID-19 test to exit quarantine. You are required to test negative for COVID-19 before returning to work.
  7. Make an appointment to test on the 5th day.

  8. Email your retest results to the CARES Team (ssucovid-19@savannahstate.edu) for review and approval to resume campus activities.
  9. The CARES Team will notify HR that you are cleared to return to work.

 

Contact (Exposure) Protocols:

  1. Email CARES Team (ssucovid-19@savannahstate.edu ) to inform them of your status.
  2. Instead of quarantining if you were exposed to COVID-19, you wear a high-quality mask for 10 days and get tested on day 5.
  3. Monitor yourself for symptoms of COVID-19 (Fever, Cough, Shortness of Breath, Sore Throat, Muscle Ache, Runny Nose, Congestion, Nausea, Vomiting, Diarrhea, Loss of Taste, Loss of  Smell). Get tested immediately if you begin to have symptoms.
  4. The CARES Team will contact you via email when it is time for you to schedule your COVID-19 test on the 5th day of your exposure. You are required to test negative for COVID-19.
  5. Make an appointment to test on the 5th day from your exposure to the positive person.

  6. Email your retest results to the CARES Team (ssucovid-19@savannahstate.edu) for review and approval to resume campus activities.
  7. Contact Human Resources, hr@savananahstate.edu, if you after quarantining for 5 full day test positive. Follow the “testing positive protocol for faculty/staff”.
  8. The CARES Team will notify HR that you are cleared to return to work.
