GENERAL INFORMATION

COBA Global Business Case Competition (GBCC) is an annual case competition that brings
together undergraduate business students to compete in a fast-paced and challenging business
case study. Starting in 2012, the GBCC program provides students a chance to build relationships,
and participate in a real-world case study to analyze and develop a business recommendation
within ninety six hours. This world class competition highlights the strategic challenges and
managerial dilemmas faced by global business leaders. Competing teams work under pressure to
solve a real business problem, using simulated business conditions such as time-critical deadlines
and incomplete information, to formulate workable, action-oriented recommendations.

THE TEAMS

Four to five teams will be selected from COBA, and three to four teams from Local High Schools
in Savannah. Each team will consist of min of two undergraduate students and a maximum of
four. High School teams likewise will consist of a minimum of two members and a maximum of
four members. Each team can choose an advisor who is either a faculty or a teacher from high
school. A team that possess expertise in a wide range of business and technical disciplines will
have an advantage, necessary but not required to have knowledge in some of these areas:
logistics, supply chain, transportation engineering, finance, marketing, economics, accounting,
international business, global issues, technology, quantitative thinking, and management.

THE COMPETITION

Teams will be presented with a business case study on Friday morning, November 16th, 2018. Teams have

their presentations. All teams will present morning on Friday, November 16th 2018 from 10 AM to 12:40
pm in Torren Auditorium.

JUDGING

Presentations are judged by group of faculty members who are not faculty advisors for students.
Top two teams consisting of undergraduate students will receive the awards, along with one top
high school team, and honorable mention for the second-high school team.
Each team has fifteen minutes to present their case analysis and recommendations from a
required written overview; this will follow by a 5-minute Q&A session. All team members must
actively participate in the presentation phase, which is followed by a question and answer period.
Judges base their decisions on such criteria as the depth and comprehensiveness of analysis,
relevance, originality, persuasiveness and overall presentation.
Competition rules allow textbooks, notes, and passive use of the Internet for research purposes.
Discussion of the case with outside sources, faculty or advisors is not permitted.
