The College of Business Administration (COBA) at Savannah State University (SSU) is dedicated to delivering quality undergraduate and graduate business education programs to a diverse student population. The College of Business Administration is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International, the premier accrediting agency for undergraduate and graduate programs in business. The AACSB seal is a mark of excellence borne by the highest echelon of business schools in the U.S. and worldwide. Only a quarter of all business schools have been accredited by the association. Graduates of AACSB-accredited programs have a distinct advantage because the seal is indicative of a high-quality business education.

MBA Overview

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a general management program that prepares students for careers in management and leadership in the business, public and non-profit sectors. The MBA curriculum while rigorous provides both a practical as well as the traditional academic business foundation combined with the appropriate analytical tools for intelligent and ethical decision making. Classes are taught by highly-qualified, experienced professors who are capable of analyzing real world problems and identifying solutions for these problems.

Savannah State University's 30-hour MBA is structured as a part-time program for working professionals. All graduate classes meet during the evening hours, Monday-Thursday. Most MBA candidates will be able to complete the program in two years on a part-time basis, by taking two three semester hour courses per semester. Students with non-business undergraduate degrees may be required to take up to 18 additional credits (six, three-hour courses) to earn the MBA.

Admission Requirements

To be considered for admission to the MBA Program, a must have student have a BA/BS from an accredited instituion and submit a completed application to the Office of Academic Affairs. Only completed applications will be reviewed by the MBA Committee. A completed application consists of the following:

  1. Graduate Application for Admission Graduate Application
  2. Graduate Management Admission (GMAT ) or Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score OR successful completion of the Pre-MBA Program
  3. Official copies of all undergraduate and graduate transcripts
  4. A 500-1000 word statement of purpose
  5. Three letters of recommendations Recommendation Form
  6. Immunization certificate
  7. Current resume highlighting professional and personal accomplishments as well as linguistic abilities, computer expertise, and leadership experience
  8. $25 application fee
  9. TOEFL test score - For students whom English is not a native language


The Pre-MBA program is designed for students who do not have time for, or do not wish to sit for either the GMAT or GRE.  The Pre-MBA exposes students to extensive training on quantitative analysis, critical thinking, and reasoning. Students who successfully complete the Pre-MBA program are granted regular admission to the MBA program. To be admitted to the Pre-MBA Program, a student must have a baccalaureate degree in any discipline from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 2.50. Students interested in the program should submit a completed PreMBA Application.
