A Reception marks the kick off the Ghana Group Projects Abroad

After selecting the participants in the Ghana Group Projects Abroad funded by the US department of Education under the Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad, SSU hosted a reception on Friday, October 2 to kick off the launch of the project. Mayor Edna Jackson who was in attendance spoke about the relevance of the project and shared with the audience her experiences in Ghana. The following day, Saturday, October 3, the participants attended their first pre-travel workshop. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Emmanuel Naniuzeyi, Director of the IEC, Mr. Chris Mercer, SCCPSS Social Studies Manager and Dr. Larry Stokes, Associate professor of Sociology at SSU.
