Crime Prevention

The Savannah State University DPS Crime Prevention Unit is commanded and maintained by Lieutenant Raphael Hall, who answers directly to the Deputy Chief Keith Hayes. The Lieutenant is currently the only officer assigned this task on a full time basis; however, he is augmented by the bike patrol unit when necessary. The Crime Prevention Office focuses its attention on the following three crime prevention categories: Property Security (both private and public property), Personal Safety, and Training Programs.

It is the responsibility of Crime Prevention personnel to keep themselves informed in trends on Crime Prevention, as well as problems on campus, and prepare material to meet these needs and standards of our customers. This unit provides a variety of Crime Prevention programs designed to educate the University's customers about criminal activity and how to respond if they are victimized.
