Congratulations on your acceptance to Savannah State University and welcome to the SSU New Student Orientation website! Orientation is the process that helps you settle in to college life, and we are preparing a splendid program that will make your transition a successful and memorable one.
This year, our theme is “Making the Right Connections.” We will make this concept a reality for you. Our vibrant Orientation program will set the tone for what will be for you an academic career of successful engagements at Savannah State University. The entire campus community (your fellow students, your professors, and your support staff) is looking forward to welcoming you and assisting you in every possible way. Please review the program thoroughly and familiarize yourself with the planned activities.
Once the Welcome Brigade gets you moved in on Saturday, it will be time for you to check in at Tiger Arena and get ready for the 2:30 P.M. General Opening Session. President Earl G. Yarbrough, Sr. is looking forward to meeting and greeting you and your parents, and your Student Orientation Leaders are anxious to make you feel at home. Each day, you will participate in various activities connecting you with the collegiate experience, and you will enjoy a spectacular social activity each evening. Our goal is for you to make at least two new friends by the end of Orientation and that you begin classes on the 12th with renewed optimism and a strong sense of belonging at your new alma mater. Monday evening’s “New Students Service of Dedication” will be an especially memorable one for your parents, as Vice-President of Student Affairs, Dr. Irvin Clark, confirms our commitment to you and your family.
Please fill out the Orientation registration form and mail it in as soon as possible so we can start planning for your arrival. Besides the Orientation program itself, this website offers you and your parents additional information of interest (university programs and services, travel, and sightseeing and living in Savannah, etc.).
