STEM 360 Activities

 

Savannah State University's Title III STEM 360 Activity, under the auspices of the Department of Engineering Technology and Mathematics in the College of Sciences and Technology (COST), aims to sustain K-12 outreach as well as, coordinate services to ensure that COST undergraduates receive high quality tutoring, advisement, mentoring, and collegiate and career counseling.

The STEM 360 Activity addresses COST strategic goals: Identify initiatives to increase progression in all degree programs; Improve significantly academic advising; Build stronger industry and community partnerships; and Increase involvement in community, sustaining alignment with SSU's strategic goals.

 

 

2012  RISING MIDDLE AND HIGHSCHOOL SUMMERCAMP

 

Middle School (rising 7th and 8th graders): The 2012 SSU STEM 360 Summer Enrichment Camp is a two week non-residential session with an emphasis on: increasing students’ mathematics/ science skills, in hopes of stimulating their interest in science and engineering as a potential career path. Each day, campers will commute and attend classes that include hands-on
activities, designed to enhance problem solving, study, research, writing and communication skills incorporated with STEM disciplines. Classes will be facilitated by SSU Faculty and/or certified classroom teachers from the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System.


High School (rising 11th and 12th graders): The 2012 SSU STEM 360 Summer Exposure Session will be three one- week non-residential half-day sessions with emphasis on: increasing awareness of the STEM programs in Savannah State University’s College of Sciences and Technology (SSU COST). Each half day, students will commute and be exposed to a different SSU COST program to include faculty, students, facilities, etc...

 

TEACHER WORKSHOPS

 

Greetings SECME Coach,

The STEM 360 Activity at Savannah State University will serve as regional competition host for the 2012-2013 Academic Year. We would like to invite you to our SECME Fall Orientation Workshop. The purpose of this workshop is to provide training that will assist with preparing teams/students for the regional and national competitions. The focus will be on each component of the "Mousetrap Car" competition, Water Rocket Construction and VEX Robot assembly. Participants will receive a "Mousetrap Car" kit(s) availability are based on a RSVP basis, SUPPLIES ARE LIMITED.
