Department of Engineering Technology

The engineering techonology bachelor's degree programs offer a broad-based and comprehensive education in both the theoretical and practical aspects of civil engineering technology, electronics engineering technology, computer science technology and mechanical engineering technology.

Highly respected faculty offer course work and laboratory instruction designed to achieve the integration of academic theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience. SSU is committed to ensuring that students receive the very best of classroom and laboratory instruction, advisement, mentoring and collegiate and career counseling.

In addition to the bachelor's degree programs, COST offers an associate's degree in science core curriculum.

The department is continuously upgrading its degree programs and laboratory facilities to meet the challenges and needs of the twenty-first century.

Through a partnership between Savannah State University and the Georgia Institute of Technology in their Regents Engineering Pathways Program, a student interested in pursuing a degree from another USG school can attend Savannah State University for their first two years of core courses and introductory sophomore level engineering classes. Once the student satisfactorily completes the required courses with the required minimum GPA they can then transfer to Georgia Tech, Georgia Southern University, University of Georgia, Mercer University, or Kennesaw State University to complete their degree.

Several of SSU students are involved in summer undergraduate research experiences both on our campus and on other campuses throughout the country; these students are given the opportunity to present their research findings in conferences. As a result of this experience, some students have been published in conference proceedings and journals.
