Ms. Maliece Whatley, MAcc, CPA, Instructor of Accounting, participated in 2009 summer internship with St. Joseph Candler Health Systems in Savannah, GA. She was involved in a major internal auditing project where she spent a significant amount of time working on the project from the beginning through the conclusion.


Dr. Leon Prieto won the Academy of Entrepreneurship’s Carland Award for Outstanding Entrepreneurship Research in a Doctoral Dissertation (“The Influence of Proactive Personality on Social Entrepreneurial Intentions among African American and Hispanic Undergraduate Students: The Moderating Role of Hope”).

Dr Anshu Arora is the Winner of Advertising Educational Foundation (AEF) Faculty Internship - Visiting Professor Program (VPP) in New York City during July 12 – 23, 2010. The AEF-VPP program is a two-week fellowship for professors of advertising, marketing, communications and the liberal arts, wherein 16 professors out of 64 applications were selected and hosted by advertising agencies in New York City, and Chicago this year. Dr Arora worked in “Young and Rubicam” advertising agency, in New York City as a part of AEF VPP 2010.


Dr. Ulysses J. Brown, III was one of four professors selected by the Department of Defense (DOD) to participate in a 2010 Summer Faculty Research Program sponsored by The Office of Naval Research (ONR) in conjunction with the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). Several hundred professors from across the United States apply for this opportunity to conduct research at (DOD) laboratories for ten weeks in the summer. Dr. Brown worked with the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI) where he investigated the determinants of majority privilege, minority privilege, procedural justice, work group cohesion, and work group effectiveness of military personnel. He also assessed affective commitment, procedural justice, majority privilege, and minority privilege.

Appointments

Dr. Mostafa Sarhan has accepted an invitation from the AACSB Board Chair, Howard Thomas was extended to serve a three year term on the AACSB Initial Accreditation Committee. His appointment is effective July 1, 2009.  The Initial Accreditation Committee oversees the accreditation process for schools in the final stages of seeking initial AACSB business accreditation.
