Maliece S. Whatley, CPA, MAcc is an Instructor of Accounting in the College of Business Administration, Savannah State University, Savannah, Georgia. She began her career in 1983 on the audit staff of Coopers and Lybrand in Atlanta, where she served clients in the manufacturing, real estate, and telecommunications industries. In 1986 she moved to  BellSouth Enterprises as a Staff Manager where her responsibilities included  documenting methods and procedures for the corporate accounting staff; preparing consolidated financial reports; accounting research and technical guidance; ensuring consistent and accurate reporting among BellSouth Enterprises domestic and international subsidiaries and affiliates; and assisting new or acquired subsidiaries with BellSouth reporting compliance. Ms. Whatley has also served as a staff accountant for a local CPA firm and as an accountant for a local law firm.
