Case Competition

 

G-LIBER CENTER IN ASSOCIATION WITH COLLEGE OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION AND TRANSPORTATION STUDIES PRESENTS:
3rd ANNUAL GLOBAL BUSINESS CASE COMPETITION 2017

 

GENERAL INFORMATION
Global Business Case Competition (GBCC) is an annual case competition that brings together undergraduate COBA students to compete in a fast-paced and challenging business case study. Starting in 2012, the GBCC program provides students a chance to build relationships, and participate in a real-world case study to analyze and develop a business recommendation within 72 hours.

THE COMPETITON 
Teams will be presented with a business case study on Monday morning, October 16th, 2017. They have seventy two hours (3 days) to research, analyze and develop a set of action plans, make recommendations, and prepare their presentations. Preliminary presentations are made on the Morning of Thursday, October 19th, 2017 from 9 AM to 12 PM in Torian Auditorium. Top five teams will present afternoon on Friday, October 20th 2017 from 11 AM to 1 PM in Torren Auditorium.

JUDGING
Preliminary presentations are judged by group of faculty members. Final presentations (top 5 teams) are judged by a panel of industry and academic experts including CEOs, top management executives and consultants.

AWARDS
Teams compete for the COBA Case Cup. Importantly the winner and first runner group will be competing in South Eastern Global Case Competition held at SSU (teams from GA southern, South University etc. will participate) to be held in April 2018. In addition, members of the winning team will receive an individual trophy inscribed with the team members' names. The second and third place teams will receive a trophy inscribed with the team members' names. Students will also receive cash price which will be determined later.

REQUIREMENTS AND REGISTERING
A STUDENT MUST BE motivated to perform (will consider Sophomore, Junior, Senior and Graduate) A group will consist of a minimum of four students. One Graduate, two undergraduate, and one high school student. A student does not have to come in groups, but can register as single individual students, and then will be assigned to a group, although groups are welcome. Please contact Dr. Niranjan (niranjans@savannahstate.edu, COBA 209) for additional information about the event and getting registered. There will be sign-up sheet posted outside Dr. Niranjan’s office, please sign-in and put your details and mentors name you will be interested in working. The following faculty will act as mentors, but any COBA faculty member can be a mentor as long as the faculty member agrees, the following have agreed to mentor (it will be a max of two teams per mentor): Dr. Niranjan, Dr. Wu, Dr. Korovyakovskaya, Dr. Samms-Brown, Dr. Bradford, Dr. Simmonds, Mr. Mudrinich, Dr. Farhangi, Dr. Rukmana, Dr.Javid, Dr. Knakiewicz, Dr. Krupka, Ms. Butler and COBA faculty. Last date for registration is September 22th.
