Welcome

Welcome to the Department of Social & Behavioral Sciences in the College of Liberal Arts & Social Sciences here at Savannah State University. The SBS department is committed to excellence in teaching and research and we are proud of the accomplishments of our faculty, students, and graduates.

SBS is a research-oriented department where our priority is the discovery of new knowledge and understandings about human behavior, social issues and cultural processes; the application of that knowledge to the betterment of physical, mental, and social health; and the transmission of that knowledge to our students and the Savannah community.

The department offers Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degree programs and minors in Africana Studies, Behavior Analysis, Criminal Justice, History and Sociology. The SBS courses and degree programs are intended to provide for systematic advancement towards professional careers and graduate studies in the social and behavioral sciences. Professionally-oriented courses, research and clinical internships, close faculty-student relationships, and liaisons with governmental and community agencies are emphasized as a means of helping students reach their academic and professional goals.

Our faculty and staff are committed to offering students a university experience that is second to none, and we welcome you to join us in your educational endeavors.
