Biography
Dr. Lateef Pade Badru is currently Professor and Chair of the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Badru was formerly Acting Chair and Professor of Africana Studies at the University of Maryland (UMBC) where he taught courses in Economic Development and African Politics. Professor Badru is also the current Chairman of Board of Trustees of the International Agency for Refugee Movement (IARM), a Not-for-Profit Organization based in Maryland, USA. After completing his Bachelor’s degree at the City University of London, London, England, Dr. Badru pursued his post-graduate studies at the prestigious London School of Economics and Political Science taking several courses in sociology, philosophy, politics, economics, political economy, and sociology of development. And after earning his Master’s degree (M.Sc.) from the London School of Economics, he was offered admission to do his doctoral studies at Cambridge and Essex University in England; he chose to go to Essex University.
Research Interests
Professor Pade Badru’s research interests include: International Economic Development, Economic Sociology, Quantitative Sociology, Political Sociology, Political Economy, Research Methods and Statistics, Ethnic Relations & Diversity; Sociology of Islam, Historiography and Economic Development in Africa.
