Program Description
The study abroad program takes place during the summer semester for a period of about four (4) weeks. Participants take courses in Ghanaian history and culture, as well as in other areas of the academic curriculum. A typical course load consists of six (6) credit hours or two courses. Tuition fees, room & board, field trips and round trip airfare from Savannah, GA are included in the estimated $4,500.00 program cost. Insurance, Passport and visa fees, and required immunization fees are not included in the program cost.

For summer 2013 the following professors will host trips to Ghana each with a unique focus.

Dr. Mukhtar- Africa History before 1800

Dr. Anderson- Children & Family Services in Ghana

Drs. Myers & Alexander- Sociology & Criminal Justice CRJU4601

Dr. Metts- Writing

Location
Students will study at one of three universities:

  • University of Ghana, Legon
  • Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology, Kumasi
  • University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast
    Learning is by no means restricted to the classroom. Field trips include visits to historic and cultural sites such as Cape Coast and Elmina Castles, Nkrumah and DuBois monuments and other relevant sites.

Eligibility
Open to all University System of Georgia undergraduate and graduate students.
